Alfredo Castro Ortigoza (Mexico, 1981) is a documentary and fiction film editor based in Berlin, Germany. He completed his bachelor's and master's degrees in film editing at the Filmuniversität Babelsberg "Konrad Wolf" (Potsdam, Germany) and is a graduate of the Centro de Arte Audiovisual (Guadalajara, Mexico). He also holds a degree in Philosophy from the Universidad Veracruzana (Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico) and studied music at the same university.
With over 25 years of experience in audiovisual production (editing, directing, photography, sound design, and music composition) and covering a wide range of genres (fiction, documentary, video art, and animation), his main focus has been editing and dramaturgy in documentary films, with extensive experience in projects with a complex and vast amount of archival footage.
Among the main filmmakers with whom he has collaborated and whom he considers his mentors are editor Stephan Krumbiegel and director and DOP Rafael Corkidhi. He has also worked with internationally renowned directors such as Andres Veiel and Dror Moreh.
