Alfredo Castro Ortigoza (Mexico, 1981) is a documentary and fiction film editor based in Berlin, Germany. He completed his bachelor's and master's degrees in film editing at the Filmuniversität Babelsberg "Konrad Wolf" (Potsdam, Germany) and is a graduate of the Centro de Arte Audiovisual (Guadalajara, Mexico). He also holds a degree in Philosophy from the Universidad Veracruzana (Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico) and studied music at the same university. He is a member of the European Film Academy.
With over 25 years of experience in audiovisual production (editing, directing, photography, sound design, and music composition) across fiction, documentary, video art, and animation, his primary focus has been film editing and dramaturgy in documentary cinema. He has extensive experience working on projects involving complex narratives and large-scale archival footage.
Among the filmmakers with whom he has collaborated and whom he considers his mentors are editor Stephan Krumbiegel and director and cinematographer Rafael Corkidhi. He has also worked with internationally renowned directors such as Andres Veiel and Dror Moreh.
